Definitely!
We spend our lives in search of the other half. If you think you found that, don't be so quick to let it go.
As soon as we saw the trailer, we knew we were watching this. Together is based on Plato’s idea of soulmates, as presented in his dialogue The Symposium.
I really like horror films, but modern ones are on a whole new level — they genuinely make me happy. Probably because they reflect the fears of modern society in such a sharp and specific way.
Modern people struggle to build strong, close bonds with one another. The modern world is increasingly focused on individualism, with many people thinking only of themselves. Many are also afraid of dissolving into a relationship or into another person — of losing themselves and living someone else’s life. It can be frightening to become too deeply attached to someone, as if their loss — whether through tragedy or choice — might leave you unable to recover or live as you once did.
And yet, the older people get, the more they realise: if you want to live entirely on your own terms, without considering anyone else’s feelings, you have to be prepared for solitude.
On the other hand, if you want a partner — someone to support and encourage you, someone who means you’ll never face things alone — you have to be willing, to some extent, to sacrifice a degree of independence and freedom, and to let go of some of your selfishness, or at least try to manage it through compromise.
But that doesn’t mean abuse is acceptable in any form. There’s a big difference between making compromises and sacrificing things for each other, and one person constantly giving while the other takes. Please value yourself and don’t let anyone take advantage of you!
Overall, I really enjoyed this film — it's literally my second favourite horror after Weapons — so I highly recommend it. 8.7/10!
