Other Side of the Box

Caleb Phillips, Nick Tag

An unexpected, early Christmas gift from an old friend awaits Ben and Rachel. It is nothing much; just a sloppy handwritten card and a suspiciously light cardboard box wrapped in cheap paper. However, the present comes with a strange yet strict rule: no matter what, the couple must never leave the package unattended. It sounds peculiar, or even unsettling, but by the end of the night, Ben and Rachel will wish they had never accepted the mysterious offering.

Recommendation

If you love horror — definitely try!

I accidentally stumbled across a YouTube channel with a lot of short horror films and decided to give one a try — not expecting much, because come on, it’s basically just a video. But God, I was wrong.

Other Side of the Box is less than 16 minutes long and it scared the life out of me. The atmosphere is extremely dark and eerie. Special shout-out to Tyler Pochop, who played brilliantly — and the makeup made him even scarier than he already was. As someone who is genuinely terrified by uncanny human appearances, dolls and non-human figures, this touched my soul so deeply it almost left my body.

The scene with Shawn (Josh Schell) screaming on the phone was so natural that it made me even more unsettled than I already was — and I was already unsettled a freaking lot.

Final Note

If you like horror and want to try something that won't take much time, definitely go for this short film. It's worth it!
