The story takes place in Sweden and follows Elsa, a 7-year-old girl who knows she is different from other children her age. Elsa has a habit of correcting others' grammar, is smart for her age, and is especially close with her grandmother (Granny). When Granny dies, Elsa slowly discovers more about her grandmother's past identities, as well as the lives of people affected by her grandmother.

Only different people change the world. No one normal has ever changed a crapping thing.
This book has been getting a lot of attention lately — people talking about a charming grandmother and a warm atmosphere — so I decided to give it a try. It gave me an interesting insight about myself instead.
My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises made me realise I have a massive trigger for infantile adults. I didn’t finish it because I was getting so irritated by the grandmother’s behaviour — she constantly misbehaves, acts worse than a child, and does genuinely dumb things.
I also felt really sorry for Elsa’s mother, who is constantly dealing with passive-aggressive neighbours, cleaning up the messes her own mother keeps creating, and somehow trying to parent her child and manage everything else at the same time.
Honestly, I found nothing cute or sweet about an irresponsible grandmother who not only breaks laws but puts a child in danger and creates problems for her own daughter.
On top of that, the author felt like he was padding the book with unnecessary information that adds nothing to the plot — which is one of the things I genuinely dislike in books.
I didn't like it and didn't finish it — decided to show some mercy to my mental health. I don't agree with the positive comments about the characters, and I doubt I'll ever try another book by this author. No rating, since I didn't finish — maybe it's just not for me.
